Sri Lanka is set to take centre stage as the host nation for the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Executive Committee Meeting 2025, aligning seamlessly with the Government’s vision to position the country as a hub for technology, innovation, and business collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region. The event, scheduled to take place from 4 to 5 April 2025, at Hilton Colombo, will bring together key decision-makers from 17 member countries, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s status as a leading player in the regional ICT landscape.
APICTA, a non-profit, apolitical organisation, represents the interests of the ICT industry across the Asia-Pacific region. Sri Lanka is represented within APICTA by BCS The Chartered Institute for IT (Sri Lanka Section) and the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS). Hosting this event is a testament to the country’s growing influence in the global digital economy and underscores the Government’s commitment to fostering a thriving ICT sector.
Deputy Minister of Digital Economy (Eng.) Eranga Weeraratne said: “We are honoured to host the APICTA EXCO Meeting in 2025 and welcome our international partners to experience Sri Lanka’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. Our nation is fully committed to facilitating a world-class experience that aligns with APICTA’s objectives and our Government’s vision of digital transformation. This event marks another significant milestone in our journey toward becoming a leading technology-driven economy.”
Digital Economy Ministry Acting Secretary Waruna Sri Dhanapala said: “Hosting the APICTA Executive Committee Meeting affirms Sri Lanka’s commitment to fast track the gains from digital economy in an inclusive manner. This is not just an event; it is an opportunity to foster international collaborations along with a wider stakeholder engagement, attract investment, and showcase Sri Lanka as a trustworthy hub for ICT excellence in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Federation of IT Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) Chairman Indika De Zoysa said: “The APICTA EXCO Meeting 2025 provides an invaluable opportunity for Sri Lanka to deepen its engagement with regional ICT leaders and serves as a catalyst for growth and collaboration. As an industry, we see this as an opportunity to showcase Sri Lanka’s expertise in emerging technologies, digital entrepreneurship, and IT-enabled services. The discussions and partnerships formed at this forum will help drive innovation, open doors for investment, and strengthen our position as a regional technology hub.”
BCS The Chartered Institute for IT Chairman Vajeendra S. Kandegamage said: “Hosting the APICTA EXCO Meeting is a defining moment for Sri Lanka’s IT industry, providing a global platform to demonstrate our technological capabilities and thought leadership. This event will also strengthen
Sri Lanka’s role as a knowledge hub by facilitating key discussions on future digital advancements, skill development, and industry best practices.”
