Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and Georgia’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka Archil Dzuliashvill
In a bid to promote tourism between Sri Lanka and Georgia, the two countries have decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in January 2022.
The decision was revealed at a meeting held between Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and Georgia’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka Archil Dzuliashvill yesterday. It was also noted that the draft MoU had already been prepared.
The Ambassador expressed his full support to attract more Georgian tourists to Sri Lanka and agreed to launch special promotional programs soon to create more awareness on Sri Lanka in Georgia.
The Tourism Minister proposed to the Ambassador to implement a joint promotion program in Georgia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
Ranatunga also said he hoped to hold a round of talks with journalists, social media influencers and travel agents from the three countries.
Ambassador Dzuliashvill also commended the Government on the successful administration of vaccinations against COVID-19.
The Ambassador of Georgia was accompanied by Senior Advisor Lasha Japarize, Tourism Ministry Secretary S. Hettiarachchi and Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) Director-General Wijayasinghe.
