SLAITO welcomes Harin’s go-ahead for SL show at WTM

Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators and the One Voice One Industry yesterday welcomed the go ahead given Minister Harin Fernando for Sri Lanka’s participation at the World Travel Market in London in November.

The breakthrough follows SLAITO and One Voice One Industry’s fruitful discussions with Minister Fernando together with SLTPB Chairman, Managing Director and Marketing Director.

SLAITO said WTM is the most important travel show where the whole world’s travel and tourism industry comes together.

“It is where we could meet our foreign tour operator partners and promote our destination, Sri Lanka. This will carry a strong message to the world and our tour operator partners that Sri Lanka is safe for travel and welcoming tourists, as opposed to the negative media reports in the past months,” SLAITO said.

“We are also happy to note that we will go ahead with the three Cities Road Shows in India at the end of this month which will also boost the Indian market,” it added.

SLAITO thanked Minister Fernando for the recent free publicity Sri Lanka tourism received at the Asia Cup matches, which was entirely due to his intervention. “This has given a huge boost to the industry among the cricketing nations and its cricket loving public,” it added.
