SLIC buys 9% stake in Amaya Leisure

  • Longstanding shareholder/Director Lalin Samarawickrama exits and retires from Board

Longstanding shareholder/Director Lalin Samarawickrama exited from the company divesting a 9% stake or five million shares and has retired from his position as well.

He sold his stake at Rs. 43 per share recently. A sale of near 400,000 shares was also sold by Elles Ltd. in which Lalin was a Director also sold.

The buyer is believed to be Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC).

Lalin was the fourth largest shareholder at Amaya after Hayleys PLC (40.3%), Dean Foster (21.3%) and EPF (9.6%). Last Thursday, Amaya announced a 1 for 2 share sub-division to boost its price to Rs. 47 and Friday it closed the week at Rs. 44.40.
