SLJBC welcomes Sri Lanka’s participation at Expo 2025 Osaka

The Sri Lanka-Japan Business Council (SLJBC) yesterday extended its sincere gratitude to the Government for confirming the country’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka.

“This prestigious global event presents an invaluable opportunity to showcase Sri Lanka’s rich culture, heritage, and economic potential on an international stage,” the SLJBC said in a statement.

“While our presence at the Expo will highlight Sri Lanka’s unique offerings, our primary focus should extend beyond exhibition. We must leverage this platform strategically to attract tourism, secure investments, and expand trade opportunities with Japan and other global partners. With over 28 million visitors expected at Expo 2025 Osaka, Sri Lanka has a rare chance to position itself as a key destination for business, travel, and economic partnerships,” the statement added.

The SLJBC strongly believes that Sri Lanka’s participation should be aligned with a broader strategy to promote economic growth. “We encourage all stakeholders — both public and private — to actively engage in maximising the benefits of this global event. By fostering strong business relationships and showcasing our country’s potential, we can create lasting economic impact,” it said.

To reinforce this commitment, the SLJBC will be organising a business delegation to visit Expo 2025 Osaka in September. This delegation will serve as a catalyst for strengthening commercial ties, exploring new investment opportunities, and deepening the economic partnership between Sri Lanka and Japan.

It is also encouraging Sri Lankan businesses to actively participate by being present at the Sri Lanka Pavilion at the expo. This is a unique opportunity to directly engage with international investors, potential trade partners, and tourism stakeholders.
