The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has decided to call for an inquiry into the outcome of the vote on the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill.

The Bill was passed in Parliament with a majority of votes on Thursday.

However, the SLPP has called for an inquiry into the outcome, citing discrepancies.

The party said at the time when the vote result was announced as 148 in favour and 55 against, the votes of MPs Ali Sabry and Jayarathana Herath had not been included.

The SLPP pointed out that if the vote count was announced properly then the Government would have received a two-thirds majority for the Bill.

The party added that it had decided to call for an inquiry and would inform the Speaker in this regard. (NewsWire)
