Cricket sensation, Sachin Tendulkar will be in Sri Lanka as part of his role as the UNICEF’s Regional Goodwill Ambassador for South Asia.
Next week he will share his reflections from his recent visit to Sri Lanka after observing UNICEF programs and meeting children and their families.
UNCIEF Sri Lanka said COVID, the economic crisis, and its knock-on effects impacted the lives of children across the country. “As the country moves towards economic recovery, it is critical to prioritise the needs of children, especially nutrition and education, to build the foundations for children and for the country,” UNICEF added.
Sachin was appointed as the first UNICEF Regional Goodwill Ambassador for South Asia in 2013.
Fondly called the “God of Cricket” or “Master Blaster,” Sachin Tendulkar is one of the greatest sportspersons of all time. Whether on or off the pitch, he has always been a bold and passionate advocate for children’s rights according to UNICEF.Sachin was previously the Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF India. He was also a Member of Parliament in India. He remains involved in numerous social initiatives within India and across the region through UNICEF and through the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation.
