Saliya Pieris elected new BASL President

Following a heated election that saw a high voter turnout, President’s Counsel Saliya Pieris was elected as the new President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) yesterday.

He secured 5,093 votes while President’s Counsel Kuvera De Zoysa secured 2,807 votes. Pieris is the former Chairman of the Office of Missing Persons (OMP). 

President’s Counsel Saliya Pieris takes over the position from BASL outgoing President Kalinga Indatissa PC.
