Sampath Bank added to MSCI Frontier Market 100 Index

Sampath Bank has been included as a new addition to the MSCI Frontier Market 100 Index. 

The Management of Sampath Bank confirmed the addition yesterday. 

Sampath Bank (MSCI Code 1631601) is the only Sri Lankan company in the index with a weightage of 0.36%. The recent price appreciation of the counter could be a reflection of this, according to analysts.

The MSCI Frontier 100 Index captures large- and mid-cap representation across 29 frontier markets.

Premier blue chip JKH was moved out of the MSCI Frontier 100 Index due to the lower average of daily turnover volume as a percentage of its market capitalisation. However, JKH remains in the broader MSCI Frontier Index.
