Sampath IT Solutions transforms Lion Brewery’s fuel management process

Sampath IT Solutions recently developed a comprehensive fuel management system tailored to Lion Brewery’s needs, digitally transforming a critical business process for a leading beverage producer in Sri Lanka. 

Previously, Lion Brewery relied on an analogue, manual system for fuel reimbursements – however, as the company and its corresponding business and technological landscape changed, there was a realisation that there was a need for a more efficient system to better manage this vital process. 

Founded in 2006, Sampath IT Solutions is a fully owned subsidiary of Sampath Bank PLC, and specialises in providing end-to-end integration and consultancy services to transform businesses. 

Sampath IT Solutions worked closely with Lion Brewery to understand the current system in place, its gaps, and the governance inefficiencies that were taking place and provided a web and mobile-powered system that streamlined the process, improved employee experience, and most critically, improved governance. 

Previously, the manual system was prone to errors, process-related issues, and ineffective governance. This resulted in inefficiencies in fuel quota management, quota visibility, transparency to the management, integrity between systems, human errors, and time wasted.

Since the application of the new system, Lion Brewery has seen significant improvements in its fuel management processes. The new system provided by Sampath IT Solutions resulted in secure transactions, employee convenience, and minimised financial risks thanks to credit cards with spending limits and real-time monitoring. 

The introduction of an intuitive mobile app placed real-time fuel efficiency at employees’ disposal, allowing them to track mileage, fuel usage, and remaining fuel quotas. A web application provided managers with oversight and control, allowing them to audit, manage, and identify trends and plan ahead. Further, a cashless system automated expense management, easing the hassle of manual receipt tracking.
