Sanath to bat for Sri Lanka Tourism

One of Sri Lanka’s iconic cricketers Sanath Jayasuriya has been appointed as a brand ambassador for Sri Lanka Tourism. Tourism Minister Harin Fernando said Jayasuriya will be able to help promote Sri Lanka to the world. “India is a major market, while Pakistan and Bangladesh are untapped markets,” Fernando added.

Jayasuriya said since over three million Sri Lankans livelihood depends on tourism and “it is probably the fastest way we can come out of the economic quagmire we are in.”

“I accepted an honorary post as tourism ambassador. I invite all Sri Lankans both here and abroad to help promote our mother land,” Jayasuriya added.
