Sharhan Muhseen appointed to Board of HK giant PCCW

Sri Lanka’s Sharhan Muhseen, a top professional, has been appointed to the Board of Hong Kong-based giant PCCW, as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

PCCW is a global company headquartered in Hong Kong which holds interests in telecommunications, media, IT solutions, property development and investment, and other businesses. It employs over 20,000 and reported HK$36 billion revenue in 2022 with Group assets of HK$78 billion.

PCCW Chairman is Richard Li, a son of one of Hong Kong’s wealthiest billionaires Li Ka-shing. Richard also chairs Asia-based Investment Company Pacific Century group.

Muhseen currently is the Deputy Chairman and a Non-Executive Independent Director of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, among other positions.

At PCCW other Independent Non-Executive Directors are  Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), Pacific Century Group former group chief financial officer, Star TV chief financial officer and Good Harbour Finance financial advisor Frances Waikwun Wong,  Silver Lake Managing Director and Credit Suisse Group AG (Credit Suisse) Investment Banking division former Managing Director Bryce Wayne Lee, ÖstVäst Advisory AB Chief Executive Officer/founder and Inter IKEA Treasury in North America and Europe former Senior Portfolio Manager Lars Eric Nils and British Sky Broadcasting Group former Deputy Managing Director and The Really Useful Group Non-Executive Director Robert David Christopher Chance.

Muhseen, aged 47, is a senior investment banker with extensive experience in areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and capital markets. He has served in a senior board capacity working with company boards and senior leadership teams of corporates across Asia to help drive their strategic agenda and roadmap.

He is a Non-Executive Independent Director Gestetner of Ceylon PLC, David Pieris Holdings and Amãna Takaful Life PLC.

Muhseen previously worked in global investment banks including Credit Suisse, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and JPMorgan in leading regional coverage roles. He was Managing Director, Head of Asia Insurance, Head of South-East Asia Financial Institutions Group, and Country Manager Sri Lanka at Credit Suisse based in Singapore. In his investment banking career spanning over 20 years, Muhseen has completed landmark mergers and capital raising transactions in excess of $100 billion.

He holds a Masters in Economics from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) from Western Michigan University.
