A Singapore-based Ameropa Asia Ltd. has been awarded the contract to supply Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertiliser for the 2022/2023 Maha cultivation season.

The proposal to this effect submitted by Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday.

“A total of 40,000 tons of MOP will be procured with the $ 50 million financial assistance provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB),” said Cabinet Co-Spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardana at the post Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.

In a brief statement, the Government said the company was selected following the recommendations of the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
