Solar Forge Batticaloa has been awarded the contract to commission a 100 MW solar power plant in Oddamawadi, Batticaloa. Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal by Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera to award the contract to award the 20-year contract under a build, own and operate (BOO) basis for 20-year operating period.

“We are seeing significant interest from foreign investors for renewable energy projects,” Cabinet Co-Spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardena said at the post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.

Sri Lanka aims at adding up to 2,800 MW of renewable energy into the National Grid by 2025.

The project aligns with the Government’s vision of increasing the share of renewable energy in the National Grid and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.
