The two-day Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2021 organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will commence today under the theme ‘Springboard for revival: Opportunity to reset’.
The Chief Guest will be Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa while Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal will deliver the Keynote Address. The Economic Summit will provide participants with the singular opportunity to hear from leading economists, thought leaders and industry experts from Sri Lanka and around the globe, as they lead discussions and share insights on setting a sustainable stage for Sri Lanka’s economic recovery and development.
The SLES will be held as a hybrid summit catering to participants who would join online as well as participate in-person at the Shangri-La Hotel.
Today’s sessions will focus on current macro-economic conditions and opportunities, viable recovery and growth strategies and the case for public-private sector collaboration in order to ensure progressive policy making.
Standard Chartered Bank South Asia Economist Saurav Anand and Central Bank of Sri Lanka former Governor Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy will address the summit on the topic of ‘Sri Lanka’s Opportunity to Reset in the New Global Norm’. Dr. Howard Nicholas from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) at Erasmus University, Rotterdam and Verite Research Executive Director Dr. Nishan De Mel, will speak on ‘Setting the Foundation for Macro Growth’.
McKinsey & Company Senior Partner Diaan-Yi Lin will present during the final session for the day on ‘Public-Private Sector Collaboration on Seeking the Opportunity to Reset’. Many eminent panellists and experienced moderators will join the panel discussions that will follow the presentations in each session.
Day two of the summit on 7 December will feature a similar high-profile line-up of speakers exploring Sri Lanka’s potential as a commercial and technology hub, enhancing Sri Lanka’s export portfolio and repositioning the tourism industry in the new normal for travel.
