Sri Lanka among top 10 most instagrammable places in the world

Sri Lanka has been ranked ninth in a list of the 50 most instagrammable places in the world in 2023, based on a big review of social media data.

As per the global travel site – Big 7 Travel, Sri Lanka made it to the top 10 for most instagrammable places worldwide in 2023, outranking photogenic sites like the Maldives, Tokyo, Sydney and Iceland.

Milan, Italy’s fashion capital was ranked first in the survey, followed by London, Paris, Istanbul, New York, Nepal, Chicago, Bali and then Sri Lanka, with Sydney rounding up the top 10.

This year, Sri Lanka clocked a hefty 13 million hash-tags on Instagram and 16.4 billion TikTok views featuring a distinctive combination of cultural, natural, and historical attractions, ranging from the old rock fortress of Sigiriya to the breath taking beaches of the south coast.

Each year the Big 7 compiles a list of the top 50 instagrammable locations globally based on a scoring system that analyses each location’s TikTok views, and hash-tag usage in addition to a sample survey of its 1.5 million readers and global editorial team.

The final findings are then ranked according to how appealing they are to the eye and how well-liked they are on social media.
