Sri Lanka’s first Agrivoltaic power plant opens in Batticaloa

Solar Universe Vavunathivu Solar PV Park — a 10MW ground-mounted power plant was declared open in Batticaloa yesterday. Taking to Twitter, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said this was the first Agrivoltaic Power Plant in Sri Lanka. It will add 20 GWh annually to the national grid. The project is funded and developed by three private institutions — Wind Force, Vidullanka and Hi-Energy with their respective ownership stake of 33.33% each. The project cost is expected to be around $ 7.248 million.
