Sri Lanka is to be one of the partner countries to the upcoming 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit scheduled in the State of Gujarat from 10 to 22 January 2022.
Preparatory work is ongoing, and a formal announcement is expected shortly.
Daily FT learns Sri Lanka Tourism and key private sector companies have been invited to attend the summit organised by the Government of Gujarat at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, a biennial event was conceptualised in 2003 under the leadership of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The 2022 event will see over 40,000 participants, including global business leaders, investors, fund managers and policymakers from 135 countries.
Sources said selection of Sri Lanka as one of the partner countries into one of the most reputed global forums for business networking, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships for inclusive socio-economic development would be a big boost for the country.
In its 10th edition, the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2022 with the central theme, ‘From Aatmanirbhar Gujarat to Aatmanirbhar Bharat,’ presents a unique opportunity to address shared contemporary challenges and chart a path forward for global sustainable development by augmenting international cooperation and partnerships. Gujarat is committed to realising Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and with this endeavour in its cognisance, the state has been working meritoriously in resonating the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Gujarat.
As a precursor to the summit, seminars, events and exhibitions to showcase Gujarat’s distinctive accomplishments, strengths across sectors, and its preparedness to lead Aatmanirbhar Bharat’s growth story will be organised. The seminars will focus on topics such as Sustainable Agriculture Practices and Agro and Food Processing; ‘Export-led Growth’ by propelling Local goes Global to achieve the per annum export target of $ 1 trillion by FY28; Positioning Gujarat as a global investment destination for textiles by augmenting PM MITRA Parks and PLI Scheme for technical textiles; International Conference of Academic Institutions with focus on the National Education Policy 2020 for knowledge and skill-based economy; Holistic Healthcare: Good Health and well-being for All; and Opportunities in Dholera Special Investment Region – India’s first Greenfield Industrial Smart City and Startups for Inspiring Disruptive Innovations.
