Sri Lanka Tourism is all set to give its best at the ITB Berlin this year, which will kick off today and continue till 7 March 2024 at Messe Berlin, Germany.
Sri Lanka will showcase all its tourism products to lure the international tourists to come and have an experience of a lifetime. Sri Lanka is seeing continuous increase in the number of tourist arrivals since 2022 and is celebrating a remarkable comeback with 1.5 million tourists in 2023. Sri Lanka is a regular participant of the ITB and as a result of its promotional efforts, the number of German travellers to the destination has doubled in 2023 compared to 2022. Germany is one of the top source markets for Sri Lanka Tourism, which has the second highest number of arrivals from Europe after UK.
This time, Sri Lanka Tourism will have a myriad of travel and holiday opportunities to offer for the German counterparts, with new initiatives and projects rolled up on its sleeve, in order to highlight that Sri Lanka is still one of the most renowned travel destinations in the world. The number of Airlines to Sri Lanka have increased and several top Airlines including Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish airlines and Lot Polish Airlines have resumed flights to Sri Lanka, as a result of the continuous promotional efforts carried out by Sri Lanka Tourism.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion is scheduled to captivate the visitors with its breathtaking designs, layouts and stand construction, with images of its diverse wildlife, fascinating historical sites, picturesque tea gardens and exquisite tea. The Sri Lanka Pavilion will be at hall 5.2a, stand 115 which will feature hotels and hotel groups, DMCs and other exhibitors. The new brand logo, tagline and campaign of Sri Lanka Tourism will be unveiled at the stand under the auspices of Tourism Minister Harin Fernando and participation of key industry leaders to showcase the uniqueness of Sri Lanka and highlighting its diversity that is unmatched by any other island of its size in Asia. The Sri Lanka Press Conference is also scheduled to be held under the patronage of Minister Fernando on 6 March, in HUB 27, room Beta 8.
Sri Lanka Tourism will be participating in this renowned travel fair with a delegation of over 68 travel and Tourism stakeholders, along with the National Carrier Sri Lankan Airlines, who has done a substantial amount of work to increase the number of flights to Sri Lanka and improve direct Air connectivity between nations. The SLTPB delegation will include SLTPB Chairman Chalaka Gajabahu, Director Marketing Dushan Wickramsuriya, and Officer in charge of the German Market Dilini Ratnayake.
