The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) clinched the coveted title of  ‘Best International Tourism Board’ at the Global Tourism Awards 2024, held in New Delhi, India.

Organised annually by Travel World Online (TWO), the awards recognise organisations that have significantly contributed to shaping and enhancing the global tourism industry.

SLTPB Chairman Chalaka Gajabahu accepted the award in the presence of Sri Lanka’s Tourism Minister Harin Fernando, who attended as the Guest of Honour.

The event, featuring numerous categories and participants from around the world, was adjudicated by a distinguished jury chaired by Nakul Anand, former Executive Director of ITC.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, SLTPB Managing Director Nalin Perera remarked: “We are honoured that the Jury has acknowledged the relentless efforts of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in promoting Sri Lanka as a premier tourism destination worldwide.”

He attributed the bureau’s success to its ongoing promotional campaigns and the positive endorsements received from international media and travel influencers who have visited Sri Lanka.

Perera also extended his thanks to the travel industry stakeholders for their unwavering support, which has been instrumental in achieving this milestone.

Sri Lanka Tourism has seen remarkable growth in visitor arrivals, welcoming 1,198,059 tourists by 31 July 2024, marking a 56% increase over the previous year.
