Standard Chartered Bank backs popular Daily FT-Colombo Uni. MBAA post Budget forum again

The Standard Chartered Bank has yet again come forward to be the Strategic Partner for the popular Daily FT-Colombo University MBA Alumni Association post-Budget Forum scheduled for Friday, 18 November from 8.30 a.m. at the Grand Ballroom, Shangri La, Colombo.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe will be the Chief Guest whilst the Forum will feature top leaders from the public and private sectors. The theme of the post-Budget Forum is “Hurdling towards opportunities beyond challenges.” The 2023 Budget will be presented by President and Finance Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Parliament on Monday 14 November.

“We are happy to have partnered with the Daily FT and the MBA Alumni Association of the University of Colombo as the Strategic Partner of the Post Budget Forum 2022,” SCB Sri Lanka Chief Executive Officer Bingumal Thewarathanthri said. 

“As the country continues to face challenges in the face of the economic crisis, it is our responsibility to remain resilient and uphold our commitment towards the development and growth of our country,” he said. 

“Along with the Government’s continuous efforts towards steering the country away from the present economic crisis, we, as a responsible financial institution, pledge to actively aid the efforts to combat financial hardships and ensure support in the procurement of essential commodities. In the upcoming financial year, it is important for all industries to work closely with the Government and actively participate in efforts to facilitate the upholding of the country’s economic security,” emphasised Thewarathanthri. 

The post-Budget forum panel includes Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Asian Development Bank Country Director Chen Chen, Institute of Policy Studies Executive Director Dr. Dushni Weerakoon, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Chairman Vish Govindasamy, Colombo Port City Commission Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody, PriceWaterhouseCoopers Sri Lanka Tax Director Charmaine Tillekaratne, SC Securities CEO Roshantha Fernando and SCB Sri Lanka CEO Bingumal Thewarathanthri. The panel will be moderated by Daily FT CEO and Editor Nisthar Cassim.
