The Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on Monday mandated the Road Development Authority (RDA) to obtain consultancy services for supervising the construction of the elevated expressway from the Athurugiriya interchange of the Outer Circular Expressway to the Kelani Bridge via Rajagiriya.
The Government said a consultancy firm should be appointed as an independent engineer to supervise the construction and maintenance work to ensure quality and timely completion of the project. Such a consultancy firm has to be hired by the RDA following the formal procurement methodology. In May the Government awarded China Harbour Engineering Corporation the contract for Designing, Building, Funding, Operating and Transferring (DBFOT) of the elevated expressway.
