Tea production in Sept. up 5.51 m kilos

Sri Lanka’s tea production for the month of September 2017 amounted to 25.46 million kg vis-à-vis 19.95 million kg in 2016 (+ 5.51 million kg). Cumulative tea production for January/September 2017 amounted to 232.56 million kg vis-à-vis 218.98 million kg in 2016 (+ 13.59 million kg), Ceylon Tea Brokers said in a statement. 



Elevation wise, analysis shows that for the month of September 2017, high-grown tea shows an increase of +0.07 million kg, low-grown + 4.13 million kg and medium grown + 0.06 respectively, when compared to the same period last year. 

CTCs recorded 1.84 million kg for the month of September 2017 showing an increase when compared to the corresponding figure.
