National tea sales average in February totalled Rs. 645.95 per kilo ($ 3.35) vis-à-vis Rs. 645.02 ($ 3.40) of January, showing a marginal increase of Rs. 0.92 month on month, Forbes and Walker Tea Brokers said yesterday.
However, in comparison to the February 2020 average of Rs. 601.99 ($ 3.35), shows a fairly significant increase YOY of Rs. 43.95.
Forbes said High Growns, totalling Rs. 611.83 ($ 3.17) for February, have recorded a marginal decrease of Rs. 01.46 month on month vis-à-vis Rs. 613.29 ($ 3.23) of January. However, when compared to the February 2020 average of Rs. 571.58 ($ 3.18), a fairly significant increase of Rs. 40.25 is recorded YOY.
Mediums, averaging Rs. 579.78 ($ 3.01) for February, have recorded a marginal decrease of Rs. 05.59 vis-à-vis Rs. 585.37 ($ 3.09) of January. When compared to the February 2020 average of Rs. 538.12 (USD 3.00), shows an increase of Rs. 41.66 YOY.
Low Growns, totalling Rs. 674.11 ($ 3.50) for February, recorded a marginal increase of Rs. 01.07 vis-à-vis Rs. 673.04 ($ 3.55) of January. Here again, the average shows a significant increase of Rs. 44.82 YOY when compared to Rs. 629.29 ($ 3.50) of February 2020.
During January-February cumulative national average of Rs. 645.47 ($3.38), an increase of Rs. 50.66 ($ 0.07) is recorded vis-à-vis Rs. 594.81 ($ 3.31) of January-February 2020.
Forbes said High Growns for the period January-February 2021 of Rs. 612.60 ($ 3.20) have shown an increase of Rs. 60.30 vis-à-vis Rs. 552.30 ($ 3.07) of January-February 2020. Mediums averaging Rs. 582.75 ($ 3.05) have shown an increase of Rs. 67.72 vis-à-vis Rs. 515.03 ($ 2.87) of January-February 2020. Low Growns totalling Rs. 673.49 ($ 3.52) for January-February have shown the lowest increase of Rs. 44.51 vis-à-vis Rs. 628.98 ($ 3.50) of January-February 2020.
