The enterprising yet low profile Page family has inducted their third generation into the Board of Cargills (Ceylon) PLC.
The Company yesterday announced the appointment of Chairman Louis Page’s daughter Tara Lucy Manonmani Page as a Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director on the Company’s Board.
Tara Page holds an MA in Politics and Education from Columbia University, NY. She is an experienced public school educator having served as an English teacher, Literacy coach and Restorative Justice Consultant in underserved communities across Brooklyn, NY for 15 years. She has also served as a lead teacher and staff advisor for system-involved young men in Queens, NY.
She is a founding board member and youth fellowship director of Brooklyn FAM, a community-building non-profit arts organisation.
Additionally, Tara has been involved with multiple mutual aid organisations, family service providers and racial justice organisations as an advocate, organiser and educator.
With roots spanning to 1844, Cargills is Sri Lanka’s largest food company with an annual turnover of over Rs. 223 billion. It also has interests in retail/supermarkets, financial services, entertainment, and property. Since the early 1980s Albert A. Page steered the Company to a new era and the second generation has shaped the trajectory of Cargills from late 1990s and early 2000s.
With the latest appointment the Board of Cargills (Ceylon) PLC comprises Chairman L.R. Page, Deputy Chairman/CEO V. Ranjit Page, Managing Director and Deputy CEO M. Imtiaz Wahid, Joseph Page, Indira Malwatte, Asite Talwatte, Dilantha Jayawardhana, Dr. Dushni Weerakoon, Ganesan Ampalavanar, and Tara Page.
