14 elite travel agents from across Spain have embarked on an unforgettable adventure through the heart of Sri Lanka from 15 to 22 October.

Representing various regions of Spain, these VIP agents are set to explore the island’s most breathtaking and culturally significant destinations, giving them a first-hand look at what makes Sri Lanka a must-visit destination.

This familiarisation tour comes at a pivotal time, when Sri Lanka’s socioeconomic standing has improved significantly and the immediate issues faced especially with the tourist visas cleared, creating a more favourable environment for tourism.

During their action-packed eight-day tour, the agents will experience the best of Sri Lanka, including the ancient ruins of Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, and Dambulla, along with the vibrant cultural hub of Kandy. They will also explore the serene beauty of the Nuwara Eliya highlands and conclude their journey in the buzzing capital, Colombo, where they will experience the sights, sounds, and flavours that make Sri Lanka so unique.

Connaissance De Ceylan is the official ground handling agent for the visit, while Thema Collection serves as the official accommodation partner, providing luxury stays throughout the trip. Turkish Airlines is the official airline partner, ensuring a seamless travel experience for the delegates.

Notably, Spain is currently the seventh largest source market for Sri Lankan tourism, according to latest statistics. Spanish tourists are especially important, as they typically travel from May to October, making their visits lucrative for hoteliers and other tourism suppliers. The arrival of these influential agents will further strengthen ties between the two nations and improve future tourism potential.

This fact-finding mission, organised by Spain’s largest operator to Sri Lanka, reflects the growing interest in Sri Lanka as a top travel destination.

“With recent developments such as the easing of visa issues and other tourism-related improvements, trips like this are vital in showcasing the island’s allure, from its ancient heritage to its pristine landscapes. This tour is expected to boost Sri Lanka’s profile among Spanish travellers, who will return with first-hand insights and a deeper appreciation for what the island has to offer,” Connaissance De Ceylan said.
