Tourism kicks off 2019 with 2% growth in January

The tourism industry has got off to a modest start in 2019 with arrivals improving by 2% in January.

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority said arrivals in January amounted to 244,239 up by 2.2% from 238,924 a year earlier.

India was the biggest source market followed by China and UK.

Last year tourist arrivals amounted to 2.38 million, up 10.3% over 2017.
