  • PTL Chairman’s permission to travel to Singapore for daughter’s wedding revoked
  • AG objects as indictments at Permanent High Court to be filed in next two weeks

Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday suspended approval given to Perpetual Treasuries Ltd. Chairman Geoffrey Joseph Aloysius to travel overseas, following objections by the Attorney General.

Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne suspended the approval given to Perpetual Treasuries Ltd. (PTL) Chairman Geoffrey Joseph Aloysius, which had been given earlier for him to attend his daughter’s wedding. He was expected to fly to Singapore from 1 July to 11 July to attend the nuptials.

Representing the AG’s Department, Senior State Counsel Lakmini Girihagama informed the Chief Magistrate that as her office is to file indictment at the Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar against Geoffrey Aloysius and several others over the Central Bank bond scam during the next two weeks, permission for overseas travel must be revoked.

The next hearing will be held on 28 June.
