The United Kingdom has updated its travel advice on Sri Lanka following confirmation by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health that a patient had tested positive for the coronavirus. The latest foreign travel advice issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) says the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health has confirmed that one patient has tested positive for the coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan City in China’s Hubei Province but has since spread to other countries.
UK updates
The FCO on the GOV.UK website said the Sri Lankan Government was taking various precautions to prevent the spread of the virus. The Ministry of Health has issued a press release and introduced a 24-hour hotline (+94 710170717) for anyone requiring information on the coronavirus.
Sri Lanka’s Airport and Aviation Service has announced that effective immediately only passengers will be allowed onto the airport premises. Precautionary measures have also been introduced for some flight arrivals.
UK citizens have been asked to follow the instructions of airport authorities when travelling to and from Sri Lanka.
