The United National Party yesterday welcomed Ministers Harin Fernando and Manusha Nayayakkara back to its fold after the duo were expelled by the UNP breakaway group, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) recently.
The party lifted the suspension on the two Ministers at its working committee meeting held yesterday, chaired by UNP leader, President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The UNP took an additional step and reinstated both ministers as active members of the working committee, granting them the opportunity to resume their roles and responsibilities within the party. The duo along with 97 other UNP MPs were suspended by the party in May 2020, after they broke away from the UNP to form the SJB. However, both accepted Government Ministerial positions in May last year going against the SJB’s decision to refuse any posts offered, prompting the party to expel them.
