US Ambassador welcomes Presidential Election announcement

US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung yesterday welcomed the Election Commission’s announcement of the Presidential Election scheduled for 21 September.

“We welcome the Election Commission announcement of 21 September Presidential Elections, affirming Sri Lanka’s longstanding commitment to democracy,” she shared via a post on ‘X’.

Ambassador Chung noted that she was looking forward to free and fair elections that empower Sri Lankan citizens to determine their future.
