The cybersecurity landscape is constantly evolving, and the 9th Annual Cyber Security Summit, scheduled on 12 October, is set to address the pressing challenges and opportunities in the field. Visa, a longstanding supporter of the summit, is returning as the strategic partner, reaffirming its commitment to advancing digital security.
Visa’s continuous partnership with the Cyber Security Summit, co-organised by CICRA, a pioneering cybersecurity training and consultancy company, and Sri Lanka’s prestigious and only business paper, Daily FT, has been instrumental in elevating the event to its current prominence.
Together, they have propelled the summit from strength to strength, making it a cornerstone event in Sri Lanka’s cybersecurity calendar.
Visa Sri Lanka and Maldives Country Manager Avanthi Colombage said, “We are proud to partner with CICRA yet again and bring to the Cyber Security Summit, our global experience and expertise in risk management. As Sri Lanka continues to adopt digitisation, organisations need to implement security by design. Visa is committed to protecting the payments ecosystem in Sri Lanka, as we do across the world, and for which we recently launched a Security Roadmap to help enhance payments security in the country. We continue to invest heavily in tools, technology and people globally, to empower businesses and consumers with safer digital payment experiences.”
This year, the summit will focus on three critical themes: Payment Card Industry Data Protection and the Evolution of Digital Platforms, along with a dedicated section on Cloud Security. With organisations increasingly migrating to the cloud, our eminent panel of global and local experts will share invaluable insights on safeguarding cloud-based operations.
Furthermore, the summit will delve into the concept of “Zero Trust,” a groundbreaking cybersecurity paradigm. Expert speakers will discuss its implications for business operations and provide guidance on its implementation, ensuring attendees are well-prepared for the evolving threat landscape.
“In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the threat of cybersecurity breaches has grown exponentially,” said CICRA Holdings Group Director and CEO Boshan Dayaratne. “Many organisations hastily embraced digitalisation for survival during the pandemic, often overlooking security concerns. Now, as we emerge from the COVID era, it is imperative that we reevaluate our processes, applications, and data infrastructure to ensure robust cybersecurity.”
Over the years, the Annual Cyber Security Summit has played a pivotal role in raising cybersecurity awareness and resilience in Sri Lanka. It has evolved into a crucial platform, engaging a broader spectrum of professionals beyond IT experts. Its impact is further amplified by extensive media coverage, making it a go-to event for cybersecurity discussions.
Additionally, the summit will host the annual CEO’s Forum, where global threats in the cybersecurity industry will be discussed, highlighting the evolving nature of threats post-pandemic. The forum will emphasise why cybersecurity should be a boardroom discussion, urging CEOs and directors to prioritise this critical issue.
