The Cabinet of Ministers at their meeting on Monday approved awarding three contracts to Vitol Aviation BV and one contract to World Fuel Services Trading DMCC to supply jet fuel for SriLankan Airlines Ltd., at four different airports following competitive bids, starting from 1 November 2024.
The Government said the move follows limited international bids called to providing jet fuel at Frankfurt, Incheon, Melbourne and Sydney airports as contracts for the supply will expire on 31 October 2024. However the duration of the new contracts were not mentioned in the statement comprising weekly Cabinet decisions issued by the Government Information Department.
It added that out of the eight aircraft fuel supply companies which submitted their bids, only Vitol Aviation BV and World Fuel Services DMCC were selected to award the contracts based on the recommendations of the Technical Evaluation Committee and the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Accordingly, Vitol Aviation BV was awarded three contracts to supply jet fuel for national carrier in Frankfurt, Melbourne and Sydney airports, whilst World Fuel Services Trading DMCC got the contract to supply aircraft fuel at Incheon airport.
The proposal to this effect submitted by Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
