Newly appointed Western Province Governor Hanif Yusuf yesterday assumed office with a strong call for collaboration among stakeholder to tackle corruption and deliver the change that the public demands.

Speaking to the media he emphasised that true development is not measured by the wealthy getting richer, but by the well-being of the poor.

“If the poor become poorer, it reflects poorly on the systems,” he stated, urging for a balanced approach to development that improves all sectors of the society.

Reflecting on his new role, Yusuf, a successful businessman with a global reach in over 40 countries acknowledged the challenges ahead.

“When the President asked me to accept this position, I thought about the change I could bring. I have experienced with working with people, but this is not something I can do alone,” he said, stressing the importance of unity in eradicating corruption and bribery.

Yusuf expressed his commitment to using his skills and experience to bring positive change. “While it is not easy to eliminate corruption from the system, it is not impossible if we work together. I will do everything within my capacity to make that change happen,” he assured.

As a seasoned businessman, Yusuf also highlighted the importance of giving back to the economy and society, noting that the time has come for business leaders to contribute to the country’s development.
