Yudi new Chairman at Asia Capital

Yudhishtran Kanagasabai

Top professional Yudhishtran Kanagasabai has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board and consequently as the Chairman of Asia Capital PLC.

He succeeds Thilanga Sumathipala who resigned from the post in March this year. Malaysia’s Vijayeswaran S. Vijayaratnam controls over 80% stake in Asia Capital.



Yudy is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka). He counts over 35 years of experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives, and Singapore, before he retired as Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Sri Lanka and the Maldives on 31 March 2017. 

Has served on several committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.

As an Independent Non-Executive Director, he currently serves as the Chairman of the Board Audit Committee and Related Party Transaction Committee of Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC and as the Chairman of the Board Audit Committee of MillenniumIT ESP Ltd. 

He also serves as a Non-Executive Independent Director, and as a Member of the Board Audit Committees of Cargills Ceylon PLC, Cargills Food Company Limited, Hunter and Company PLC, Lanka Canneries Limited, and EAP Holdings Limited.

Yudy was Chairman of the Audit Committee of Union Bank PLC from August 2016 to 31 December 2018. He also served as a Commissioner of the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka from February 2018 to November 2019.

With the latest appointment, the Board of Asia Capital PLC comprises Chairman Y. Kanagasabai, Managing Director Raju Radha, A.D. Ross, V. Siva Jr, D.A.S.D.A. Abeysinha, S.S. Balasubramaniam, D. Swarnasinghe and S. Charles.
