Guest of Honour at the APB convention, Bank of America Merrill Lynch Managing Director and Head of the Financial Institutions Group for the Asia Pacific Region Michael Tan in his keynote address compared Sri Lanka to several other countries in the region in order to illuminate the directions in which Sri Lanka can move.

“While Sri Lankan banks are on a smaller scale and are at a different point in evolution than banks in neighbouring markets, the experience in high growth markets like China, India and Indonesia suggest that Sri Lankan banks have the potential to close the gap. This is a new era for Sri Lankan banks and bankers,” he said.
