Acuity Group recently took receipt of its prestigious awards as the Best Stock Broking Firm in Sri Lanka – 2014; Best Corporate Finance Firm in Sri Lanka – 2014 and Best New Asset Management Firm in Sri Lanka 2014 from the Global Banking and Finance Review UK at a ceremony held in London. The global accolade for Acuity Group is significant as it has been in operation only for just over five years. Acuity Partners Ltd. is a Joint Venture (JV) investment banking firm, equally owned by the DFCC and HNB PLC. Apart from Corporate Finance and Stockbrokers, the group also consists of Acuity Securities, Lanka Ventures and Guardian-Acuity Asset Management (JV). Commenting on the awards, Acuity Stockbrokers Group Managing Director and Chairman Ray Abeywardena stated that all credit should go to the staff for their dedication and commitment in taking Acuity to such heights within such a short period of time. He stated that Acuity’s ‘team-centric’ focus has been fundamental in the Group’s success thus far. Abeywardena added that the loyal patronage of its clients and the support from the Board of Directors and all other stakeholders have also been  vital in Acuity’s accomplishments and extended his sincere thanks for their contribution. Acuity Stockbrokers Ltd. (ASB) was set-up in 2009 as a result of the merger between HNB and DFCC Stockbrokers. ASB has the most experienced team of investment advisors amongst Sri Lankan broking firms with six of the seven Directors counting over 20 years of experience each. ASB’s strong presence in the Sri Lankan stock market has been primarily due to its ability to service the institutional (both local and international), high net worth and retail investor segments. ASB’s ability to encompass a greater component of the investing public has led to the creation of one of the largest client bases in the industry. ASB has the added advantage of offering stock market services through the wide network of branches through its Partner shareholder HNB PLC. ASB’s brokerage services are backed by a strong and dedicated team of research analysts who provide daily, weekly and specific corporate and macro-economic reports that are widely acclaimed by clients. Due to its significant outreach and the quality of services provided, ASB has remained one of the few profitable broking firms even during challenging market conditions. ASB takes pride in the high service quality levels and professionalism that it consistently maintains and its integral role in industry is evident through its successful execution of many large and strategic transactions. Acuity Corporate Finance, backed by a team of highly qualified professionals, is the Corporate Finance division of Acuity Partners Ltd. (APL) and has executed some of the largest and most innovative equity and debt capital raising transactions, including the largest IPO in Sri Lanka in 2013 under very challenging market conditions. Since its inception in 2009, the Corporate Finance Team of APL has consistently commanded a significant market share in IPOs and equity private placements (in terms of both value and number of transactions) within a highly competitive and fragmented industry to emerge as a leading force in the industry within a short span of time. In addition to its core business of equity and debt capital raising services, APL also offers a range of financial advisory and mergers and acquisitions advisory services to leading corporate entities. The awarding body, Global Banking & Finance Review is a leading financial portal offering news, analysis and opinions from the world of banking and finance, business, trading, technology, investing, brokerage, FX, tax and legal, Islamic finance, and asset and wealth management. The journal’s awards have been created to recognise companies which are prominent in particular areas of expertise and excellence within the financial world.
