Amidst reservations by some, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa said yesterday that all preparations have been made for a successful hosting of Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The confidence and optimism from Minster Rajapaksa was after chairing a meeting of the special subcommittee on Tuesday to review the progress on the preparations.
Rajapaksa said CHOGM and all connected meetings next month have been made to “strengthen the opportunities for broadening the tourism industry and investment opportunities”.
External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Power and Energy Minister Pavitra Wanniarachchi, Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody, MP and Supervising Minister of External Affairs Sajin Vass Gunawardena and Western Province Minister Nimal Lansa were present at the meeting.
