Amal Clooney holds talks with Ranil Wickremesinghe

Renowned human rights lawyer Amal Clooney has had talks with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on the issue involving former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed.

Clooney, the wife of Hollywood actor George Clooney, was in the Maldives as part of a legal team pushing for Nasheed’s release.

In Sri Lanka, she also met with the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Atul Keshap. Protests were staged in the Maldives yesterday demanding Nasheed’s release from jail.
