The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Sri Lanka together with AmCham India has facilitated a visit by a trade delegation led by GE India comprising of business leaders representing top US Companies with corporate offices in India on 6 and 7 March.
The main focus of this delegation is to seek trade and investment opportunities and to understand firsthand the business climate in Sri Lanka. AmCham is hopeful that lucrative trading opportunities and new investments would flow into the country on successful completion of this visit.
A luncheon meeting is scheduled to be held on 6 March where Ministers and senior Government officials are due to address the delegation and AmCham members/CEOs of top corporates in Sri Lanka.
AmCham Sri Lanka is currently focusing on developing, trade and investment ties between the US and Sri Lanka, through dialogue with member companies of the Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC). APCAC represents 50,000 business executives, 20,000 organisations in 22 countries within the Asia Pacific Region. The APCAC membership manages trade volumes in excess of US$ 400 billion and direct investments (FDI) of over US$ 200 billion in the region.
As a first step towards this regional initiative AmCham Sri Lanka has tied up with AmCham India to draw from over 400 US companies that formulate their membership. The visiting delegation is the direct result of this initiative.
The delegation is expected to meet Sri Lankan business leaders and other key decision makers during this visit at a series of events organised during these two days.
