American Chamber hails President and new Cabinet; welcomes reforms

The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) yesterday welcomed the election of Maithripala Sirisena as President and appointment of a new Cabinet.
AMCHAM is the country’s premier chamber for conducting business with the United States of America and offered its congratulatory wishes to MaithripalaSirisena on being elected as the sixth Executive President of Sri Lanka at the recently-concluded presidential elections, taking on the responsibility of leading the nation into the future.
The Chamber issuing a statement also extended its wishes to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the newly-appointed Cabinet of Ministers, Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers on their new roles.
AmCham said it appreciated the dedication and commitment of the new President and the Cabinet to the 100-day program of reforms to ensure good governance as highlighted in the President’s manifesto.
“AmCham commends these reforms of the new Government and believes it will further strengthenthe dynamic and corporative relationship between business sectors of Sri Lanka and USA. The Chamber is certain these initiatives will continue to facilitate trade and investment opportunities and other vital links that will further enhance business connections between the two countries,” it stated.
