SriLankan Airlines said yesterday it has acquired a new Airbus A320 last month, expanding its fleet to 23 aircraft.
The national carrier’s fleet now consists of eight medium – range A320’s, seven twin engine wide-body A330’s, and six long-haul A 340’s, and two De Havilland Twin Otter floatplanes for domestic services.
The new aircraft has a seating configuration of 20 Business Class seats and 120 Economy Class seats, and is equipped with sophisticated in-flight entertainment systems and in-seat AVOD (audio video on demand) in business class and economy class, as well as 25 movies, 9 TV channels, 25 audio channels and 15 games.
Sri Lankan is also in the process of completing a major refurbishment program by the end of this year, transforming the passenger cabins on its existing long-haul fleet of A330’s and A340’s with flat-bed seats, state of the AVOD entertainment systems and luxurious interiors. The national carrier currently serves 60 destinations in 33 countries.
