April annual inflation up 6.1%

The annual inflation rate accelerated to a seven-month high of 6.1% in April from a year earlier, above analyst expectations and up from 5.5% in March according to a new consumer price index, Government data showed on Monday.



Annual average inflation as measured on a 12-month moving average eased to an 18-month low of 5.7% this month, from March’s 5.9%.

A Reuters poll of 14 analysts had forecast annual inflation to have risen to 6.0% and annual average inflation to have slowed to 5.7%.
