Arjuna new Chairman at NTB

Arjuna Gunaratne has been appointed as the Chairman of Nations Trust Bank (NTB) with effect from 1 November, succeeding Ronnie Peiris who has resigned following the completion of nine years on the Board in compliance with Central Bank rules.          



Gunaratne is the Director – Group Coordination of Central Finance Company PLC, a leading Non-Banking Financial Institution (NBFI) in the country and the second largest shareholder of NTB. He was first appointed to the NTB Board in May 2005.

He is also the Chairman of the Board Supervisory Committee of NTB and a member of the Board Credit Committee and the Integrated Risk Management Committee. Previously he served as a member of the Board Audit Review Committee as well.

Gunaratne oversees the functions of strategic planning and risk management at Central Finance. He is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of UK and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.

Peiris, who is Group Finance Director at JKH, served the NTB Board since November 2003 and was appointed Chairman of NTB on 1 January 2012.
