Asantha de Mel new Selectors’ Chief

Veteran fast bowler Asantha De Mel has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Cricket Selection Committee.

Others in the new team appointed by Sri Lanka Cricket are former wicket keeper Amal Silva, spinner Don Arunasiri and Hemantha Wickramarathne. Some of the new appointees had served previous selection committees whilst De Mel had headed one too.

Meanwhile, Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage has instructed the newly-elected President of Sri Lanka Cricket Upali Dharmadasa to submit a report within a week after studying the present woeful situation of the national team.
