Business leader Ashroff Omar has been appointed to the Board of premier blue chip John Keells Holdings as a Non Executive Director with effect from 1 March 2013.
To take up the upcoming position, Ashroff will step down as a Director from the Board of John Keells Hotels Plc, with effect from 26 February.
Ashroff is a Director Of Phoenix Ventures Ltd., the holding company of Brandix Lanka Ltd. He also serves as a Director in many of its subsidiaries across the Brandix Group.
He was the founder Chairman of the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF), the apex body of the apparel industry, primarily involved in driving strategy for the industry. He was also the former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Associaton.
Ashroff is a Director of NANCO Ltd., which is the pioneering nanotech park in Sri Lanka for initiative and researching nano technology. He is also the Chairman of the Export Development Board, Advisory Committee on Garments and a member of the EDB Advisory Committee on Export Market Promotion.
He is the Consul of the Republic of Finland since March 2007, a Chartered Member of the Textile Institute International, UK and a Senior Member of the Society of Plastics Engineers, Connecticut, USA.
The last appointment to the JKH Board was made in June 2011, also in a similar fashion where Ranjith Gunasekara moved on to the parent’s board after serving Asian Hotels and Properties Plc., and Trans Asia Hotels Plc. Gunasekara filled the vacancy created by the exit of Deva Rodrigo after serving five years.
Following the latest appointment the Board of Directors of JKH comprises Susantha Ratnayake (Chairman and CEO), Ajit Gunewardene (Deputy Chairman), Ronnie Peiris, Franklyn Amerasinghe, Steven Enderby, S.S. Tiruchelvam, Tarun Das, Indrajith Coomaraswamy and Ranjith Gunasekara.
