Attorney General indicts Duminda and 12 others in former MP Premachandra’s murder

The Attorney General has indicted Colombo District UPFA Parliamentarian Duminda Silva and 12 others on 17 charges including the murder of former presidential advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and four others. The indictment was served to the Colombo High Court. Premachandra, a former legislator and an official of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s staff, was killed on 8 October, 2011 in a shootout with MP Duminda Silva who was also critically injured. The 12 others also indicted by the Attorney General were Anura Thushara De Mel, Chandana Jagath Kumara, Chaminda Ravi Jayanath, Lanka Rasanjana, Malaka Sameera, Vidanagamage Amila, Sarath Bandara, Suranga Premalal, Saman Kumara Abeysinghe, Janaka Bandara, Rohana Marasinghe and Nagoda Liyanarachchige Chaminda. Among the charges were the murder of Bharatha Lakshman, Dharshana Jayathilake, Mohamed Azmy and Manimel Kumaraswamy and the infliction of gunshot injuries on Premachandra’s bodyguard Rajapurage Gamini and participating in unlawful assembly.
