Belarus and Sri Lanka talk to boost trade and economic relations

Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin B. Rybakov, presently in Sri Lanka to attend to the promotion of trade and economic integration between Sri Lanka and Belarus, called on Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, on Thursday at the Ministry.
Both Ministers engaged in discussions pertaining to the promotion of trade and economic relations between the two countries. Deputy Minister Rybakov promised assistance to improve the tourism, industrial and agricultural sectors in Sri Lanka.
Minister Rajapaksa elaborated on programs conducted by the Government to develop the industrial and livestock sectors, as well as fertiliser subsidy programs to develop the agricultural sector under the Divi Neguma program.
Future programs to be launched to promote trade and economic relations between the two countries were also discussed by the two ministers. Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development Dr. Nihal Jayathilake, Secretary to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Aruna Siriwardhana and several representatives from Belarus were also present at the meeting.
