A case filed against Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and his son-in-law Arjun Aloysius over the controversial bond issue was dismissed by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya yesterday, after the petitioners sought to withdraw the case.

The Petitioner, UPFA Provincial Councillor Renuka Perera, decided to withdraw the case after attorneys for the Bribery Commission informed court that an investigation into the Central Bank Bond controversy was underway by the Commission.

The Chief Magistrate agreed to allow the petitioners to withdraw and dismissed the case.

Meanwhile, the case had a domino effect on another petitioner filed by Attorney-at-Law Kelum Kumarasiri against former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivaard Cabraal over the EPF scandals and controversial Greek bond issue during their tenures.

The Chief Magistrate dismissed the case since the petitioner decided to withdraw the motions, after the cases against Mahendran and Aloysius were withdrawn.
