Reuters: Shares edged down on Monday as investors sold banking and finance stocks in light trading, while investors waited for direction despite the Central Bank’s policy easing, concerns over a weakening rupee and high lending rates denting sentiment, dealers said. The main share index fell 0.68%, or 41.64 points, to 6,114.18, slipping from a six-week closing high on Thursday. Turnover was Rs. 288.4 million ($ 2.19 million), well below this year’s daily average of about Rs. 932.9 million rupees. Foreign investors were net sellers of Rs. 29.3 million worth of shares. But they have been net buyers of Rs. 15.95 billion so far this year.
